Silver tier benefits
Silver members receive two complimentary single-entry lounge eVouchers each membership year*. They can be used at all Air New Zealand owned lounges when departing on an Air New Zealand ticketed and operated flight.
These lounge eVouchers are electronically stored in your Airpoints account and are automatically redeemed when you scan your boarding pass at the lounge. Keep your valid Silver membership card handy to show to lounge hosts if requested. You can also gift one lounge eVoucher to a companion travelling with you on the same flight. Lounge access with eVouchers are subject to lounge space on the day.
Silver members receive one recognition upgrade each time you retain or become a Silver member and is valid during that membership year*. A recognition upgrade is able to be used to request to have one flight sector upgraded by one cabin class (for example, from premium economy to business premier). Where the applicable flight only offers two cabin classes the upgrade will be applied to move from economy to business class.
Your recognition upgrade is only able to be applied to Air New Zealand ticketed and operated flights. We recommend our members apply their recognition upgrade to their flight booking as soon as possible. Our upgrades team will review your flight six days prior to travel, if upgrade seats are available on your selected service we will confirm the request once any outstanding Elite or Gold requests are processed.
High Load factors may prevent us from confirming upgrades in advance of travel. If this is the case, your Silver upgrade request will be reviewed in tier order for any remaining, unsold seats at the airport on the day of travel.
OneUp™ is Air New Zealand’s upgrade offer system that gives people travelling on Air New Zealand the opportunity to move up one cabin class when travelling internationally In recognition of your loyalty to Air New Zealand Gold members' OneUp offers will be upweighted by 10%.
Priority travel benefits
If the Air New Zealand or Star Alliance flight you want is full, as a Silver member you can be wait-listed in case a seat becomes available. Your wait-list request will be prioritised after Airpoints Elite and Gold requests. Wait-listing is not available on all fare types or with reward tickets. Priority wait-listing must be requested through your booking agent or if you have booked online simply call our contact centre. Additional airfare difference costs, applicable penalties and service fees may apply.
Priority airport standby:
if you are at the airport and wish to travel on an alternative flight you will be given priority standby behind any Elite or Gold members. Simply speak with the check-in staff at your departure airport or call our contact centre to request a Priority Airport Standby. Standbys are not available with certain fare types, such as reward tickets or grabaseat™. Additional airfare difference costs, applicable penalties and service fees may apply.

Discounted Business Class award fares:
Discounted long-haul Business Class fares are available in limited quantities to Silver members.
* Airpoints Silver members receive 2 x single use lounge eVouchers and 1 x recognition upgrade per tier membership year. Lounge eVouchers and recognition upgrade are only valid during the active tier status, and will expire should the tier status change inside of 12 months.
