Travel to Cook Islands
The Cook Islands checklist provides all the essential information for what you need to do before you fly, and what to expect on arrival.
We've highlighted some key requirements you need to meet for check-in below.
Travel eligibility
- Check you meet entry, health, and immigration requirements for the Cook Islands.
Vaccinated travel
- Check you meet the Cook Island Government's vaccination requirements.
- You will need to present an International Travel Vaccination Certificate for travel to the Cook Islands.
Pre-departure testing
- Pre-departure testing requirements for international arrivals into the Cook Islands have been removed. See more.
Declarations
- Every traveller must complete the Cook Islands Ministry of Health travel declaration within 96 hours before the departure of their flight to Rarotonga.
- You will also need to complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration prior to travelling back to New Zealand.
Travel to Fiji
Travel eligibility
- Check you meet entry, health, and immigration requirements for Fiji.
- Travellers must present evidence of travel insurance, with specific coverage for medical expenses due to COVID-19.
- If you have tested positive for COVID-19 within 30 days of your travel to Fiji, you'll need to provide a medical 'fit to fly' letter from your doctor.
Vaccinated travel
- All travellers 16 years and above must provide proof of full vaccination.
Pre-departure testing
- Pre-departure testing requirements for vaccinated travellers to Fiji have been removed. See more.
Pre-booked arrival testing
- All travellers 12 years and above must pre-book a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) to be administered within 48 to 72 hours of arrival in Fiji.

- You will need to present confirmation of your pre-paid entry test at check-in.

Travel to Samoa
Quarantine-free travel is currently available one way, from Samoa to New Zealand.

The Samoan border remains open to all Samoan Citizens, as well as Permanent and Temporary residents of Samoa, who are currently in New Zealand.
Travel eligibility
- To be permitted entry into Samoa, you must comply with all Samoan Government requirements.

Travel to Niue
Quarantine-free travel from New Zealand to Niue will be available to travellers who meet entry requirements from 28 June 2022 (NZ Time). See more.
Until 28 June 2022 (NZ Time), the below travel restrictions apply:
- The Niue Government must approve all travellers who wish to travel to Niue.

Travel to Tonga
Quarantine-free travel is currently available one way, from Tonga to New Zealand.

Travel eligibility
The Tongan Government have restricted travel for Tongan nationals and citizens, and international travellers approved by the Ministry of Health.
- All travellers must register interest for government approval to return to Tonga.

Travel to Tahiti
Air New Zealand recommences services to Tahiti from 4 July 2022.
