Explore more with Multi-city bookings

Our multi-city booking tool makes it quicker and easier to book your multi-city trips online.

Why choose a multi-city trip?

Multi-city bookings allow you to visit multiple destinations on one single booking and are the best way to make the most of any international or domestic escape with Air New Zealand or our partner airlines. Whether you're travelling for business, leisure, or both, you can easily explore more with just one booking.

How it works

Booking a multi-city journey with Air New Zealand is simple. Our booking experience makes it easy to combine different destinations into one itinerary so you can explore more. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Visit our flight bookings page and check that the 'Multi-city' tab is selected
  2. Choose your destinations
The choice is yours for how you want to explore. Enter your departure city, add desired stopovers and then select your chosen destination
  3. Select your travel dates
Choose specific travel dates for each leg of your journey and select the number of passengers. Click 'search' to see available flights
  4. Book and confirm
Select your flights, complete the booking process and you're all set. You'll receive one booking for your entire trip.

Some multi-city itinerary options

  • Add stopovers - travel to one main destination with stopovers on the way there and/or on return
  • One way with stopover - travel to your chosen destination with a stopover on the way
  • Split your flights on return (open jaw) - depart from Auckland, fly to Los Angeles, make your own way to San Francisco and return to Auckland

Tips and help

Some tips for finding flights on Air New Zealand and our partner airlines when making a multi-city booking:

  • Try different dates – on some routes we don't offer flights every day
  • Try different service classes, particularly during busy holiday periods
  • Reduce the number of stopovers. If there are too many combinations some flights could be booked separately as one-way flights
  • Allow enough transit time between stops
  • Knowledge of our fares and routes will help to create a successful itinerary. Check our route map for valid routes and combinations
  • We recommend no more than 4-5 destinations – too many combinations may not return any results
  • Frequent travellers will know what routes Air New Zealand and our partner airlines fly and their valid stop overs. This makes it easier to create successful combinations of destinations and stop overs
